OC Supervisors are over-paid and underworked
Great article here about how we are getting bilked by our County Supervisors. Taxpayer dollars pay for the following:
- Supervisors’ salaries. They each receive approximately $150,000 per year;
- Supervisors’ top-notch benefits (healthcare, pension, 401K);
- Supervisors’ $750 monthly car allowance;
- Supervisors’ staff. They each receive approximately $1 million per year for a “staff” (aka campaign aides).
However, our Supervisors work less than others, and they don’t have a compelling track record of accomplishment. In other words, we are not receiving a quality return on our hefty public investment. Perhaps it is time to reduce their compensation packages and/or convert to a system of part-time Supervisors.
