For Federal and State races (i.e., Congress, Assembly, etc.), the two candidates who receive the most votes advance to a run-off election, which will be held on November 6, 2018.
For County races (i.e., Supervisor, District Attorney, etc.), any candidate who receives more than 50% of the vote wins the contest outright. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, then the two candidates who receive the most votes advance to a run-off election, which will be held on November 6, 2018.
For County Board of Education races, whichever candidate receives the most votes wins outright, even if that candidate does not receive more than 50% of the vote. There is no run-off election in November.
There are also five Propositions on the ballot.
Local races (i.e., City Council, School Board, etc.) are not on the ballot in June; those races are decided in November.
