Our County Supervisor attends anti-immigration publicity stunt at White House

Michelle Steel (left) stands with Trump

Our OC Supervisor, Michelle Steel (R), is an immigrant.  So, when California enacted SB54 (the so-called “sanctuary” law), one might reasonably assume that Supervisor Steel would understand the plight of immigrants during these tumultuous times, and support the law.  If anybody reached that conclusion about her opinion, however, they would be mistaken.

Five and a half months after the bill was passed, Supervisor Steel proposed a resolution for the County to formally oppose SB54.  Perhaps it took her five and a half months to formulate an opinion or draft the brief symbolic gesture.  Or, perhaps the delayed publicity was more politically advantageous to her prospects in the upcoming election where her name will be on the ballot.

Whatever the explanation, Supervisor Steel has been eager to share her anti-immigration sentiments on various Fox News programs.

As a reward for repeatedly stating her anti-immigration position on Trump’s favorite network, Supervisor Steel was invited to attend a recent White House “meeting” (funded by your tax dollars, of course).  Remarkably, this is not the only instance where Supervisor Steel has cozied up to Trump.  She also lavished him with praise at one of his local campaign rallies, and met him on the tarmac when he recently made his first visit to California.

Apparently, Supervisor Steel thinks that the majority of her constituents in this district want a representative who supports Trump.  Or, perhaps she is auditioning for a plum job in the administration.  Either way, we will soon have the opportunity to send a clear message about what our district truly wants and expects from our elected officials.  On June 5th, vote Brendon Perkins (D) for OC Supervisor!
